Challenging thesis jobs in an information security environment: Quality of Service for Encrypted Voice-over-IP Communications

What do we do?

Sectra Communications has a core expertise in encryption technology. We provide secure communication solutions, approved by the EU and NATO, for European government authorities, defence departments and other critical functions of society. Our challenge

In commercial VoIP systems there are methods for measuring network quality, formulas for analyzing the results and possibilities to act on the information to improve the user experience. Measuring network quality is still possible in secure communication systems with encryption, but the same formulas cannot be used to translate this information to perceived speech quality. Your challenge is to examine how this can be solved by evaluating measurements and construct formulas for determining the quality of different networks.

For this position we have the following requirements:

  • Master’s degree studies in software engineering, computer science or equivalent with an excellent academic record.
  • Fluent in English and Swedish.

In addition, we consider it an asset if you also:

  • Have experience in network communications or VoIP.
  • Have interest in the QoS protocols and measurements for networks and sound quality
  • Speak more languages than those required above

Have other skills, such as;

  • Have a pilot's license (we have many pilots at Sectra who fly to our customers).
  • Sing, play musical instruments, etc. We have a lively music tradition at Sectra.
  • Have a background in sports.
